To all those Potterheads looking forward to Universal Orlando Resort’s annual celebration of all things Harry Potter, be prepared to be let down. Universal announced they will not be hosting the magical celebration in 2019.
Don’t fret for long though—there’s a good reason behind this catastrophe.
Per AP News, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Hogsmeade, in the Islands of Adventure park, is getting a bit of a makeover.
Word is the park is planning a new thrill ride, along with some other new and exciting experiences that have yet to be announced. Construction of the new attractions prevents the resort from being able to host their widely popular event.
The 2018 event brought hoards of fans together to partake in exciting activities that celebrated the magic of the books and movies. Guests participated in a park scavenger hunt, hopped aboard the Hogwarts Express, and were able to attend Q&A sessions with those working in and behind the scenes of the movies.
In addition, there were costume contests, new mobile game Hogwarts Mystery was introduced, and visitors were able to attend a special performance of highlights from the Harry Potter Film Contest Series.
Although it’s a bummer the resort isn’t able to host the festivities next year, the park said they’re looking forward to future Harry Potter celebrations. Fans still have a whole lot to be excited for with all the upcoming new additions—in the end, it will be well worth the wait.
