Yes, we know it's only August. And, yes, it's still 90 degrees out, which means it seems impossible to even think about booking flights for the holidays.
But according to a new report from CheapAir.com, you'll want to wipe the sweat off your brow now and book flights as soon as September. The ninth month of the year is actually the cheapest over the next four months to book flights for both Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year's travel, per the report. By booking in September, you could save up to $107 on flights for Thanksgiving, and up to $118 for holiday flights. Average fares for Thanksgiving rise from $393 to $430 from September to October, while holiday fares go from $411 to $465 for September to November (and jump to $529 if you wait 'til December to book).
Lest you forget of all the money you could save if you book sooner rather than later, just remember that ol' Earth, Wind and Fire song. "Ba de ya, dancing in September (because of cheaper air fare)."
